The purpose of P.E at Good Shepherd is to ensure pupils to enjoy P.E lessons and develop positive attitudes towards physical activity. We aim to make all lessons accessible by providing a range of different activities to challenge every pupil. We offer two hours of P.E on a weekly basis for our KS2 children, with opportunities to participate both indoors and outdoors. This time enables children to be active for a sustained period and provides opportunities to learn and apply skills. All children are required to wear school P.E kit during these lessons.

“Inspire a generation” The purpose of Physical Education (P.E) is to inspire and motivate all children to be active in their lives, enabling them to become physically confident. The importance of living a healthy lifestyle and taking regular exercise needs be encouraged, alongside the teaching of key fundamental skills. Children should have opportunities to apply the skills they have learnt in competitive situations, either within teams or individually. As a result, key values, including team work, resilience, determination and fair play, can be taught and promoted in an active way. We believe these key values are vital for pupils’ development because lots of these are transferable skills, which can be applied to wider life.
